Five Bear Lake Legacy homes sit closest to the shoreline at Legacy Beach Resort: The Retreat #19, The Haven #14, The Sands #18, Lake Dream #13 and Ohana Kai #20. They sleep 22 to 30 guests each, and the resort's private beach (for resort guests only, not the public) is right outside. How much sand you get depends on Bear Lake's water level that year. In high-water years the beach shrinks to a small man-made strip by the pool; in low-water years it opens wide.

What Beachfront Means at Legacy Beach

The beach belongs to the resort and is for resort guests only.

Bear Lake's water level changes from year to year. In high-water years the beach is a small man-made strip next to the pool and grassy area. In low-water years a wide beach opens up, and you can often drive down and park at least 100 feet from the shoreline. The resort dock is in the water some years and not others. When it is, it's great for personal watercraft, paddleboards and kayaks.

Bring your own beach towels. Beach fires and fireworks aren't allowed, and the marina and jetty just north of the resort are private. Planning photos or an event on the sand? Ask us about that year's lake level before you book. It changes how much beach there is more than anything else.

Which Beachfront Home Is Right for You?

Closest to the water: The Sands #18, The Retreat #19 and Ohana Kai #20 all sit on the high-water mark. In high-water years the lake can come right up near these homes; in low-water years it's a short walk down to the water.

Best view: The Retreat #19, which has some of the best views on the entire lake.

Biggest group on the water: Ohana Kai #20, which sleeps 30.

Lake views plus your own hot tub: Legacy Lookout #8.

Are there Bear Lake rentals with a private beach?

Yes, with one caveat. Legacy Beach Resort's beach is private to resort guests, so the public can't use it, but you share it with everyone staying at the resort. In high-water years the sand shrinks to a small man-made beach beside the pool. In low-water years a wide beach opens up, and guests can often drive onto it.

Which lakefront homes can you rent at Bear Lake?

At Legacy Beach Resort, the homes closest to the water are The Retreat #19 (sleeps 24), The Haven #14 (24), The Sands #18 (22), Lake Dream #13 (25) and Ohana Kai #20 (30). Barefoot Bungalow #9, Sunny Shores #7 and Legacy Lookout #8 also have lakefront views from private patios. All are bookable direct with Bear Lake Legacy.

Quick Answers Before You Book

Is Legacy Beach Resort directly on Bear Lake?

Yes, it sits on the western shore in Garden City. The Retreat, The Haven, The Sands, Lake Dream and Ohana Kai are the homes closest to the water.

Does the beach change with the season?

Yes, and from year to year. High water leaves only a small man-made beach by the pool; low water exposes a wide beach you can often drive onto.

Is there a dock?

Yes, but its use depends on the lake level. When it's in the water, it works for personal watercraft, paddleboards and kayaks.

Can we have a bonfire on the beach?

No. Firepits aren't allowed on the beach. Inn at the Beach has its own private propane firepit.

Can we host a wedding or event on the beach?

Talk to us first. Now that the resort is fully built out, we host very few events, and large weddings are rare. Most that go ahead are at Inn at the Beach. Call or text 435-494-1663 with what you have in mind and your dates, and we'll tell you whether it's a good fit.
